De Sede: Metamorphosis of a Chair (Models, 1987)
The Swiss company, known for its production of uniquely elegant seating upholstered in the very finest leathers, was looking for ways to achieve its signature quality with lesser use of the precious material.
I designed an armchair in the company’s tradition and reduced it in two steps into a three-dimensional line drawing. The lines compose a chromium-plated steel tubing frame that suspends a backrest and a seat with the company’s signature material. The language is minimal and the combination of the two materials maintain the superb quality of De Sede.
